8 Reasons to Go to a Music Festival

Living Through Music

Life in Color in Wynwood

Just imagine driving down the road with the aux cord plugged in and your music library on shuffle. Now imagine being able to smile to yourself and say, "I've seen this song live." It's an absolutely wonderful feeling. Think about how music can bring out so many different emotions inside you, just imagine what it would do if you got to experience the magic in person!

1. Okay so for the first and most obvious reason, it's just really cool.

You can get as close to the artists as you want considering it's not an assigned seating type deal. If you don't want to see a particular artist then you can go grab a hot dog or something. And lets be honest, what else would you be doing this weekend? Probably sitting at home talking about how you wished you would've bought the ticket.

2. You get to meet TONS of new people!!

Not to sound stereotypical or anything like that, but everyone really is super nice. It may be the inebriation or they were just born that way, I'm not sure, but either way it's the thought that counts am I right? I was at one festival and this girl saw I was struggling to see the stage so she got my attention and said, "Hey my friend right there is a body builder if you want to get on his shoulders!!" Guess what I did? I got on his shoulders and I have no regrets.

P.S. Radiate is a good app to use to find people going to the same festival as you!!

3. There are so many different artists to see!

Think about it this way, if you wanted to see Bruno Mars it would probably be around $130 for a nosebleed seat in an arena and $250 for an even remotely good seat. So why not go see Bruno Mars, Future, Weezer, Blink-182, and many more for $250 and you can get as close as you want? It's a win-win if you ask me. There are even cheap ass day music festivals like Warped Tour where you see 30+ bands for like $50.

4. Traveling

Need I say more? Go to that festival, take that pic, and post it on Instagram. Imagine being able to post pics from Coachella. Just imagine(or not and go actually do it)!!

5. Variety

This kind of ties along with the different artists to see. There are festivals like EDC that are dedicated to electronic rave music. Then there are festivals like Rolling Loud that are dedicated to hip hop. Rockville for those love rock. Carolina Country Music Fest for the country lovers. Voodoo Music Fest for people who like a little bit of everything.

6. You get to experience some really cool stuff.

This sounds dumb but I deadass saw Lil Uzi Vert jump off of a twenty foot building into the crowd just 25 feet away from me. I saw Lil Yatchy crowd surf at an ASAP Rocky show. I saw Jake Owen bring his little daughter out on stage. I saw my roommate get on stage at a Roscoe Dash show. I met the lead singer of one of my favorite bands Dance Gavin Dance. Go for it and experience what you want to experience.

7. There are lots of different things to do at festivals too

Hangout Fest is on a beach and the have hammocks and beach volleyball. Camp Flog Gnaw has Ferris wheels and rides. This stuff is included in the ticket cost. It can be your own little musical fairytale. It can honestly be whatever you want it to be.

8. The memories. The experience.

Do it. What do you have to lose besides money? What you gain definitely overpowers what you may lose. I asked my grandma if she would like tickets to see The Beach Boys last year for Christmas and she said, "Oh I've already seen them." Then I asked if she would want to go to the Bon Jovi concert with me and she said, "Seen him too." Honestly we can wish to be like our cool grandmas, or strive to become the cool grandma.
