Enter Shikari Has The Best Fanbase

In The World!

A perfect example of the pure awesomeness that is The Shikari Family

In my previous article, I mentioned that Enter Shikari changed my life for the better, but I am not the only person that has been positively affected by the band. There is a group on Facebook called "The Shikari Family" that has about 2000 active members (I am one). Calling it a group feels almost like an insult, some of the members honestly feel like an extension of my family. The members are super supportive and caring towards each other and always plan meetups, group chats, and recently we started a collaborative Spotify playlist so that we can expand our musical interests.

When scrolling through the group you can find numerous posts of people trying to make new friends in their cities or countries using the band as a common connection. We have jokes that only members of the group will understand, we tell stories about going to shows, there's a fantasy footie league (soccer), even Enter Shikari themselves are active on the page.

When I posted a link to the last article I wrote in the group, I was only expecting one or two people to actually check it out, but 45 people and counting have been reading it and giving me support and love in the comment section of the post.

When I went to the Enter Shikari show in Ottawa in May 2016, I was expecting to get accidentally annihilated in the mosh pit but when I looked into the crowd from the counter I was sitting on, people were helping each other up when they fell, a few times they stopped moshing so they could look for dropped items and if someone got too violent it would get pointed out politely and everyone would calm down (I think part of that is the Canadian politeness).

As mentioned in my previous article when I was helping my professor run his charity "Keep Ottawa Warm" I tweeted to the band hoping they might help bring a tiny bit more attention to the charity, but when they tweeted back their support there was an overwhelming amount of support. That is the day that I realized that the people I just considered fellow fans, were really one giant family.

The other day a member of The Shikari Family mentioned that we never seem to get into big nasty arguments about politics, religion or sexual orientation. He mentioned that in another group he's in it seemed like everyone just wanted to tear each other down, and he appreciated how we never let anything tear us apart.

We seem to take Enter Shikari's message of unity and togetherness to heart and I think that's pretty awesome. I also noticed that when the band released their new song, "Live Outside" which was a new sound for the band, even if people didn't like it, we listened to their opinion and would explain to them our take on the song and we would keep it civil.

You don't see that too often in other massive groups of people and I think that is why Enter Shikari does honestly have the best fanbase in the world.

I don't have any idea as to why the fan base is so supportive, as we all know there are some fan bases that are just absolutely horrid to each other, but the fact that The Shikari Family is so supportive, kind and understanding is the reason I want them to go down as the greatest fans of any band in the world. I would also like to give them a big thank you for being so supportive of me personally and everybody else that comes to them for advice, support or friendship.
