5 Seconds of Summer, a band originating from Australia that gained instant fame after opening for One Direction as a part of their Take Me Home Tour, and again for their Where We Are Tour. The band started out with lead singer, Luke Hemmings, posting covers on YouTube, but the band grew and bassist Calum Hood and guitarist Michael Clifford joined. Shortly, after they started posting covers as a group, drummer, Ashton Irwin, joined the band. After they started posting covers as a group is when they started to get recognized by One Direction and their lives have been different ever since.

Their first album was a self-titled album that was released on June 27, 2014 (Europe release). This album reached number one on the Billboard 200. Many people would describe this as more of a pop album, while many might disagree and describe it as pop punk. This album has some of their more popular songs like "She Looks So Perfect" and "Amnesia". After this album, they went on their first headlining tour called Rock Out With Your Socks Out Tour.

Shortly after Rock Out With Your Socks Out they released their second album titled, Sounds Good Feels Good. This album established less of a pop sound for them and more of a rock sound. Some people happened to dislike the sound of their new music, but their fan base was ever strong and this album also went number one on the Billboard 200. This album is best known for the songs, "She's Kinda Hot" and "Hey Everybody". 5 Seconds of Summer then went on another world tour after the release of this album titled, Sounds Live Feels Live Tour.

After the tour ended, the band decided to take a two-year break to work on the third album, have some time off after five years of nonstop touring, and to focus on their personal lives. While over the break they did release a single that was featured in Ghostbusters (2016). The song was titled "Girls Talk Boys", which introduced a piano to their sound.

5 Seconds of Summer came back with a bang. They released a single called "Want You Back", which reached 61 on the Billboard Hot 100. This song had a much different sound to what everyone was used to from 5 Seconds of Summer. Shortly after the release, they uploaded a music video for the song.

They then announced they would be going on a tour called 5SOS 3. At this tour, they played unreleased songs that would be on their album. On April 12, 2018, they released a single called "Youngblood", which also happened to be the name of their album. "Youngblood" now has over 190 million streams on Spotify and has reached number 40 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Then on June 15, 2018, the album that made history was released. Youngblood is a 13-track album (deluxe has 16 tracks) with a variety of different sounds. Most people would agree the album did take a step towards pop with their sound, but it also has a major alternative influence across most of the songs. 5SOS were already the first band to have two number one albums, but that two soon became three with Youngblood. After all the fans continuously streamed and bought the album over the course of a week, 5 Seconds of Summer was able to chart above Beyoncé and Jay-Z's collaboration album. With the release of the album, they are going on another headlining tour titled, Meet You There. (Meet You There is also a song off Youngblood.)

Overall, from what I've seen with this album and from many fans' opinions, Youngblood is the best 5 Seconds of Summer album to date and we are excited for the future of 5SOS.
