Artists to Look Out for in 2018

Your Inside Scoop to All Things Music

It doesn't matter what genre you listen to, I've got you covered.

At the beginning of the year, Fall Out Boy released a new album. It was exceptionally controversial considering everybody knows them for their rock/alternative music. In this new album, MANIA, Fall Out Boy showcases their depth and range while experimenting with a new sound. I feel as though they successfully pull it off, but you'll have to decide that for yourself.

Following her exit from Fifth Harmony, Camila Cabello released her debut album, self-titled Camila, January 12. The album features prominent songs like "Havana" and "Never Be the Same," amongst many others. With R&B driven songs like "Into It," her sound is beginning to explore many genres. Hitting piano ballads and tropical tunes, Camila has something for everyone.

Although it hasn't been fully released yet, Charlie Puth's Voicenotes will be a much-anticipated album this year. Puth has already been extremely successful with his first album, as well as the singles he's released from this album. With songs like "Attention" and "How Long" it isn't hard to see why he's so successful.

It may not have been officially announced but Ariana Grande is expected to make her comeback since Dangerous Woman this year. This will be very pivotal for her after everything she faced last year. Fans were left excited in December when Grande posted a short clip of her singing, captioning the video "see you next year." This pop icon is sure to bring great music into this year.

Cardi B's fame rose almost instantly at the beginning of the summer with "Bodak Yellow" and more recently "Bartier Cardi." Cardi also scored a collaboration on a song titled "Finesse" with Bruno Mars. Her album was released a few days ago and is already climbing charts. Her status won't be going anywhere anytime soon. The Bronx rapper is just getting started.

The Neighbourhood released a self-titled album about a month ago, and if you haven't listened to it, you're missing out. The "Sweater Weather" band is finally releasing new music following Wiped Out!. The band has changed their sound up quite a bit as well. They've added more electronic pop and less edgy alternative rock, and yet they somehow are able to pull it off.

New music from the Arctic Monkeys is finally on the way! The classic alternative rock band is making their comeback after their infamous AM album. Expected May 11, this album will be topping charts instantly. If you like bands like The 1975 or The Neighborhood, definitely check them out.

Migos has also released new music! Titled Culture 2, the trio finally gave their fans a much needed follow up album. The album features popular songs like "Stir Fry" and "Motorsport." If you liked their first album, you'll love this album.

Our favorite quartet is back... that's right, The 1975. Their newest album Music for Cars has no official release date but after 'I Love it When You Sleep for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It," I can assure you, this one will be amazing. Their electronic pop never seems to fail, the most popular being "Somebody Else," "Chocolate," "Robbers," and "Girls." This band will continue to be successful.

After his release of Blue Neighbourhood, Aussie Troye Sivan wedged his cute little way into our hearts and isn't going anywhere. Sivan has teased his album, releasing a new song titled "Oh My My My" and performing on shows like SNL. This album is much anticipated.

5 Seconds of Summer are finally returning to music after their two-year hiatus. The boys have changed their sound from angsty teen rock to head nodding alternative. With songs like "Want You Back" and "Youngblood" it's easy to tell that their third studio album Youngblood will be an automatic hit.

As much as I'd like to continue writing about more artists, there are just simply too many. 2018 is truly the year for music; artists like Shawn Mendes, and Twenty One Pilots, in particular, will help ensure you that this year will most definitely be better than the last. And what's better than new music?
