Music Artists To Watch in 2023
10. Under the Rug These Austin based world travelers have a beautiful and nostalgic sound, for those who love to cry to Hozier while driving home from work. There is a sense of wandering and timelessness to their music, the songwriting is evocative and deeply personal. Already on the rise, this band has promising potential in 2023.

Best Music Gear for Student Musicians
Gadgets & Gear: 1. VOX Bass Personal Amp For those of us living in a shoebox with paper thin walls, this is the perfect solution to getting in those late night practice sessions without risking a complaint from Betty Sue across the hall. This compact amp fits in your pocket and plugs directly into your electric bass guitar and provides big sound directly through any regular set of wired earbuds. The bass version includes a built in drum machine, perfect for practicing grooves in your motel room before the big gig. In addition to the bass guitar version, there are guitar versions which include built in effect pedals and generic versions for quiet on-the-go practice for any electronic instrument.

Things I Wish Someone Had Told Me Before Top SurgeryTop Story - September 2022
1. HOW TO AVOID A COMPLICATION This is the most important tip I have to offer. I had surgery in July, and had a complication- my right side did not drain entirely before the wound closed, which caused a build up of gross fluid that I had to get drained by my doctor twice. I thought it was random, but it was actually due to the heat and humidity. The heat causes the fluid to build up more quickly than it would on its own, which causes the skin and tissue to not be able to reconnect itself to the rest of the body, which in turn leads to more build up- a nasty snowball effect. This can be avoided by scheduling your appointment for cooler times of year, or staying inside in the AC if you have surgery in the summertime.

Must-Reads for 2019
1. 'Swing' by Kwayme Alexander Kwayme's newest book is an absolute beauty of a story. It follows Noah and his best friend Walt (or "Swing") as they navigate their junior year of high school. Noah attempts to win the girl of his dreams, as Walt helps him in every way he can while loving jazz and practicing baseball. I have many strong opinions on this book, and it will make you laugh, cry, and hurt all the way in your soul. Similar to his other books, it is written in the form of poetry, which is a nice variant from the usual novel.

How to Music Major
Over 3 hours a day spent in rehearsal. Countless hours practicing. A day beginning with 8:30 AM Aural Theory and ending with 10 PM dress rehearsal. It is the best years of your life, but there are times that it totally sucks. This is how to get through the suck.

His debut EP, Lofi Luv U, turned heads and stole hearts; and his debut album, Jejune Intercommunication, had them begging for more. Since then, he has produced a single, but is planning on releasing another full length project in early 2019. Watch out, because Alex is looking to rock the world.

Movies with LGBTQA+ Representation
'Duck Butter' This is, hands down, the most aesthetically pleasing lesbian film I've ever seen. A woman, Naima, is dissatisfied with her life and meets the illustrious and whimsical Sergio. On a quest for intimacy, they choose to spend 24 hours together. A film filled with lust and gorgeous cinematography, it is a must see. And Naima is played by Alia Shawkat, who is like...super hot.

Colors of Love
Purple was every first: love, kiss, mistake, and heartbreak. She was thunderstorms in the late summer, paint brushes with residue left on them. She was nature trails, crystal clear water, melting ice cream. She was abandoned playgrounds, loud dance music, oversized sweaters, and Netflix binge sessions.

If You Do Not Accept Your LGBT Child You Are Likely Killing Them
My parents made it very clear from the beginning that I was the unwanted child. Now, this isn't to say they weren't kind, even loving at times. They never hit me, never locked me in a closet (well, at least not physically). They took care of my needs, took me to sports practice and doctors appointments, and I always had food in my stomach. No, the ways they made it clear hurt much more than physical abuse.
