What It Is to Be A Mixed Race - Part 1
The world is on fire. I swore that 2020 is going to be my year, the year that is going to flourish everybody's life. However, it started with this century's first-ever virus pandemic that the world's scientists are racing desperately finding a cure to put a period tot this pain and sufferings. In the UK, we are currently on the 12th week of lockdown and frankly, people are getting fed up with government's reluctant decisions to tackle this ongoing issue which people are still struggling to get to the other side of the tunnel.

What It Is To Be A Mixed Race - Part 2
In my sophomore year in high school, I had an opportunity to travel to Australia for 2 weeks and stay with a host family in a small town called Nambour. At that time, my English was pretty mediocre, but I was hungry to challenge my English with my confidence that came from nowhere. This experience changed my perspective entirely about how we live in such a small box and that was quite eye-opening. I and other selective students had a great time at a local school where students around our age act exactly what I saw in Hollywood films, I went to an Evangelic church for the first time and realised that I was an atheist. The sun, the skies and the ocean looked familiar but different. Everything connected finally.

Carly Rae Jepsen - Dedicated Side B: Album Review
It's been a while since I last uploaded an album review, but I am back! (Clearly, I have nothing else to do...) From annoyingly catchy Call Me Maybe to infectious 80s pop banger I Really Like You, Carly has been developing her career as an indie-pop queen. Her third album "E∙M∙O∙T∙I∙O∙N" was one of the most pivotal releases not only for her career but also for the pop music industry that was in need for a cult classic album, of which fused modern pop sounds with a little spice of the 80s. The album was not only praised by her fans but also by a bunch of music critiques as one of the best pop albums in the 2010s, if not, in the century.

Taylor Swift—'Lover': Album Review
It's always good to see a transformation of artists, it's like you're growing together, and it certainly makes you relate to them more. Taylor Swift's career is nothing but legendary. It's undeniable that she has become one of the most influential singer-songwriters of our generation. Her early success in the country music scene has solidified her as this talented storyteller that a lot of country music fans fell in love with. However, later in her career, she has struggled to stay loyal to her country roots and began getting criticised for it. Her career hasn't been the healthiest either. She even had an issue over her record deal with Scooter Brown whose intention was to own her past catalogue in his pocket recently.

What The F*ck Is Wrong With Country Music?
Guitar, pedal steel guitar, banjo, bass, drums, and piano. All these instruments are associated with one genre–Country. Now, what’s country music nowadays? As far as I’m concerned, it’s nowhere near “country,” it is rather pop–pop with bro-kinda lyrics to be precise, which is quite challenging to consider “country.” The issue of country music not sounding country enough has been around for nearly a decade now. While there are pretty cool genre cross-over records such as Golden Hours by Kacey Musgraves, Hero by Maren Morris, and Folk Hop N’ Roll by Judah and the Lion, there’s a fine line between being respectfully creative, and carelessly bending the genre.

Billie Eilish: 'When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?' – Album Review
Billie Eilish – 17 years old. Her career skyrocketed with her debut mixtape Don't Smile At Me when she was just 15 years old. The mixtape showcased her sweet vocal delivery and solid song writing skills that often reflected her inner emotions and struggle with an everyday society that we all can relate to. She got her brother, Finneas (also happens to be an incredible artist), as her primary producer and he co-wrote (except for "When the Party's Over" and "My Strange Addiction," which were exclusively written by Finneas) every song in this debut album WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO. As the title suggests, the entire album is based on something that occurs while you are sleeping whether it's a nightmare or lucid dream.

Sigrid: 'Sucker Punch' - Album Review
Sigrid, 22 years old, born and bred in Norway. Two years of very enthusiastic promotion by her label, she finally debuts with her album Sucker Punch a full-on pop album that makes you miss your friends, makes your eyes tear up, and put a smile on your face. Her very first Don’t Kill My Vibe EP was packed with classic pop tunes, but still had a little spice added by Sigrid. A few songs make the cut on this album: "Don’t Kill My Vibe" and "Dynamite." She later received massive attention globally with a synth-pop influenced single "Strangers," which attained her the first top 10 single in the UK. She also came in first place at the BBC Sound of 2018.

Yola—'Walk Through Fire:' Album Review
Yola's, a.k.a. Yolanda Quartey, roots can be traced back to London, UK, when she was sleeping and begging for food in the street; although, her passion for music never burned out. Her story is really enticing and really demonstrates why she’s meant to be a singer-songwriter. Years and years later, she debuts with LP Walk Through Fire, a traditional, soulful, and bluesy Americana that encapsulates her impressive powerhouse vocals and ability to tell her narrative. The album is not strictly traditional to country, yet it is definitely more “country” considering what’s out there nowadays. You should first read her story to fully enjoy the album. [Link Below]

Avril Lavigne, 'Head Above Water' Album Review
Avril has been one of the prominent examples of a pop star over a decade. Her ground-breaking debut album Let Go has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide, becoming her highest selling album to date. The sophomore album Under My Skin shows much more maturity from her both vocally and lyrically. Sadly, the pop-rock queen (sometimes punk) started to deliver something more generic and sloppy projects. The Best Damn Thing wasn’t tragic at all. It was just the beginning of confusion. You know, when you go through puberty and you’re so confused and don’t know what to do with your emotions? The album was "it." She was getting old and singing those provocative lyrics. "Goodbye Lullaby" was absolutely a step … No a few steps back from what she has achieved in the past which I wasn’t expecting from her. She tried too hard with her self-titled album where she clearly struggles to establish her sound whether to go fully pop or pop-rock. "Hello Kitty" is a 3 minute of torture and slightly culturally inappropriate.

Broods - 'Don't Feed the Pop Monster': Album Review
From New Zealand to the world, this alt-pop duo, Broods’ (Georgia and Caleb Nott) third album Don't Feed the Pop Monster is their most instrumentally focused work to date. After a long break from their sophomore album Conscious, they seem to establish a new solid ground with their new material. While the first two albums were more inclined towards synth and electronic production, this album takes more organic approach in terms of the overall sound. The debut album was musically very unique and cuts like "Bridges" and "Never Gonna Change" really cultivated their alt-pop sound. The second album felt more commercial rather than focusing on evolving their sound, they penned some decent radio-friendly songs like "Heartlines" and the lead single "Free." Even so, the album didn’t stick out unfortunately.
