Bio
Just a college student trying to enjoy myself anyway I can. As a musician and songwriter, music is always on my mind. I'm also a big Japanese culture nerd and a huge fan of its music scene. Hope you enjoy!

Discovery Playlist Vol. 1
This playlist is a part of a series called "Discovery" where I take you through my latest journey of exploring music. Each playlist is unique; some may have a specific theme, and others may be a little random. However, the process of making these playlists stays the same: I scan my music library in alphabetical order and choose an artist for each letter (This can be difficult for some letters such as Q or X, so a letter may be skipped sometimes). Once I explore each artist, I pick my favorite tracks and simply make the playlist from those songs. The results are seen below!

Hit the Ground Running: Living in the Shadows of Your Early Years
The following story is all too familiar: A promising young band or artist comes onto the scene, releases their debut album, and dazzles fans and critics with a fine work of art. When it comes time for their sophomore effort, who knows? It may have the same effect. However, in this situation, we often find that an artist fails to live up to the success or the grandeur of their debut effort and that their subsequent works fall short of the mark they had previously made. Sadly, we find many of our favorite artists living in the shadows of their early years, and while we may support them with each new release, we often wonder what happened to the fresh sound that accompanied them in their older days.

It's "Hard" Not to Love The Neighbourhood's New EP
After a short hiatus following their tour promoting their second album, Wiped Out!, the Southern California alternative band marked their reactivation with a new EP in the latter half of September.Exhibiting dark, cloudy vibes since their debut EP in 2012, The Neighbourhood's new EP, Hard, dares to dig deeper into the band's cool, angsty, hip-hop/R&B flavored alternative music. While the California 5-piece has always held fast to their sense of experimentalism, this new project shows signs of THE NBHD expanding even more on their atmospheric sound. From the beginning to the end of the EP, the band demonstrates how they have honed their skills in exhibiting their shady moods through their music.

AKFG: Japan's Beloved Alt-Rock Aces
Starting from indie obscurity in the early 2000s, Asian Kung-Fu Generation (stylized as ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION) quickly captured the hearts of the land of the rising sun with their passionate, energetic, and infectious sound. Taking cues from 90s alternative rock, AKFG's distorted, melodic power pop draws comparison to the likes of Weezer, Oasis, and many more. Over the years, AKFG has gained a huge fan base outside of Japan touring in Europe, South America, and recently for the first time North America. While their sound has steadily expanded over the years, a few things remain constant: powerful and energetic instrumentation, emotional and poetic lyricism, and simple, driven, captivating melodies.
