BlackPink's 2018 Comeback Breaks More Industry Records

BlackPink is definitely in your area.

With their latest comeback, BlackPink's "Ddu-du Ddu-du" music video has become the fastest girl group music video to reach ten million views. If you're impressed by that, just hold onto your pants. They also set the girl group record for 20, 30, 40, and 50 million views!

Those records are huge. And the group's long-lasting star power of not only BlackPink but of the group's individual members is really put in perspective by the fact that only BTS has achieved more debut music video views in the first twenty-four hours.

There is something to be said, as well, about the fandom.

BLINK has really worked hard and came through for the group when it came to racking up on those YouTube views. The fandom cares about the group, about the members, and about their success. Not surprisingly, their fandom has been the first thing/people BlackPink has thanked in their acceptance speeches and Instagram posts!

Speaking of wins, and of breaking records, another amazing girl group record was set by BlackPink on June 23, when they won first place on Music Core with their song, "Ddu-du Ddu-du". The win came only eight days after the song's debut and surpassed the previous record of twelve days set by none other than BlackPink themselves! The group continues to amaze, breaking not only previous groups' records, but their very own as well!

I doubt anyone was actually surprised that "Ddu-du Ddu-du" took its first win so soon after debut. The hype around this comeback was so fiery hot and the music video delivered in such a satisfying way. It seems par for the course that BlackPink would not only snag an early first win with "Ddu-du Ddu-du", but would break yet another record in doing so!

YouTubers are finding great success in the business of reacting to K-pop music videos and dance practice videos. Above, you can see one such YouTuber whose viewership soared skyward once he started posting reaction videos involving popular K-pop groups and artists. BlackPink's popularity is apparently contagious, with even fans' reaction videos gaining more and more notoriety as time progresses.

If you're going to watch a YouTuber react to videos by BlackPink, I highly recommend Dezzy March who is just (if not even more) of a Blink than you are. Start with the first time he reacted to their music videos. I think "Whistle" is the one. And keep watching after that. You can see the process of Dezzy falling quickly in love with BlackPink, Lisa in particular. It's unusually satisfying to see a fellow Blink who loves the group as much as I do.

While Dezzy and I have different biases in the group, my excitement and admiration for BlackPink are perfectly aligned with his. If you're excited about the group and want to watch videos by someone else who is just as into them as you are, Dezzy would be a great YouTuber to start with.

On a similar note, from one Blink to another, I'd like to extend an invitation to connect with me on social media. The links to those profiles are in my Vocal bio, down below. I'd love to hear from you and find out what you think about any of the topics I've covered so far for Vocal.

As always, if you think I've left anything out or would like for me to write about anything in particular, you're welcome to shoot me an e-mail. Those details are also down below.

Of course, thank you for reading and I can't wait to see what else BlackPink accomplishes in the coming week, because I can't wait to write about it! Thank you!
