Halloween Playlist
I have always celebrated Halloween like Carnivale, a chance to become something I am not and might never be. It is also a chance to celebrate the living and the dead together, because we cannot have one without the other.

Ghost 1: Well hello, all my dark fiends and foes! This gathering is of the upmost importance because the veil is thinning, and Halloween is almost upon us. Every year we join the shenanigans on the mortal plane, and every year we are ignored and overlooked. Anyone would think we were invisible! The fact we can't be seen by mortals is irrelevant, and not the point! This year we need a ghoulish playlist that is loud, bold and scarier than a black cat crossing your path!

Halloween is for everyone. You can come for the tricks or you can come for the treats. You can come for the chance to play pretend. If only for one night, you can escape, forget yourself and be someone else.

Pick a Monster and I’ll Treat You With a Playlist
Calling all monsters! (And mortal music-lovers who wish they were monsters.) Have you ever been out partying with your fellow creatures of the night only to have a disappointing selection of tunes? There's nothing worse than getting yourself dolled up for a blood-sucking masquerade ball or undead graveyard smash only to dance to rehashings of "Monster Mash" and "The Addams Family" theme song. Is the DJ playing Michael Jackson's "Thriller" for the upteenth time? It's no use wasting your immortality or afterlife on cliché Halloween tracks.

As I approach my 23rd Halloween, I would be lying if I said that the holiday hasn't lost some of its novelty. Being past the socially acceptable age to go trick or treating and no longer in the era of Disney Channel's Monstober event, Halloween has become more of a responsibility in many ways than a fun day full of free candy. So what does an adult do to gain back some of that old Halloween spark? Look for ways to spice it up, of course.

Music and sound has always had an immense holding and power over an environment. In movies, it creates an atmosphere that not only generates emotion and tone on screen, but also creeps into the living room with us. In social gatherings, at parties, at clubs, it dictates how we move and communicate with the people we’re body to body with. The Halloween season is so immersive it’s one of few holidays that truly creates a tone that surpasses and extends beyond it’s one dedicated day, creating a buildup for weeks, and music plays a key role in creating that tone.
Trick or Treat? Halloween Beats To Spook or Impress. Three-Hour Playlist. Tunes to Delight.
As we know, the majority of us reading this article celebrate New Years Day on the 1st of January. The Chinese celebrate their special mark of a brand new calendar a few weeks to a month later, while the Celts celebrate New Years Day on the 1st of November. Therefore the comfort foods of pumpkin and cinnamon spice (am I allowed to say chocolate?) naturally kick in, in the cooler, winter months. According to the Celts, the cooler months (aka winter) brought forward a blur between life and death on their take on New Years Eve (off hand, over 2,000 years ago now), and the trick or treat concept came from that, on what they called All Hallows Eve. Welcome to Halloween then. There you go, Halloween is a British concept, and not an American one. (It is like asking what came first...the chicken or the egg?) Who cares, and maybe they both did.

Halloween is a day when all the punks, goths, and eccentric beings crawl out from under their rocks and rejoice in the spooky season. It's a time where they rule the streets, and their usual look is no longer considered strange or off-putting. They can embrace their authentic selves without any judgment, and damn, it's a good vibe!

I recently learned I may have been a witch in my past life... which explains a lot. Apparently if you have brown, patchy birth marks and an affixiation for fire, there's a chance you may have been burned at the stake in a past life. At least that's what TikTok told me.
