Lloyd’s Uber Scary Halloween Playlist
“Create the soundtrack for the ultimate Halloween party.” Not just a challenge. A challenging challenge. Halloween, after all, doesn’t have the same wellspring of music as Christmas, yet a party requires more than a single song, like a “Happy Birthday” for a birthday party. And what of the tone? A Halloween party, conceivably, includes a wide range of participants – children, boisterous adults, wallflowers, the undead – each with their own musical tastes.

Well it’s been a month of real opposites. We continued into a small short heat wave again, and had temperatures hitting the mid 20’s if you can believe it. Yip Scotland (well the central belt) was practically tropical! However like all good things they end, and the wet, windy weather that so stereotypical of Scotland reared its head again. The tree’s green’s gave way to all shades of red, gold and browns, before litterying our pavements and roads. But the flipside, its a great excuse to get used to the colder weather, and wrap up warmer, and take comfort sitting on the couch or being warm and cozy in bed while the wind and rain batter’s the windows.

Ever since hearing songs like "Monster Mash," "Thriller," and my childhood Peter Pan 45 Record, "Dinner with Drac," I have loved Halloween, monsters and mayhem. I am certain that my Sister's theater acting, love of monster make-up, horror films, and Vincent Price; as well as, my Uncle's brilliant Halloween decoration displays, also had an impact on me.

Around 2000 years ago, when the leaves were crisp at the edges, shades of auburn, amber and gold, Samhain was celebrated. Samhain pronounced 'Sah-win' was a festival of death which was around November 1st, a time when the seasons changed.

A Graveyard Smash , is taken from Bobby “Boris” Pickett and the Crypt Kickers 1962 Hit “Monster Mash” , more Abbott and Costello than Bela Lugosi. So here is mine, I hope there will be nothing too obvious in here , so this is unlikely to be a winner as no Halloween DJ will have heard of any of these artists (well maybe) , but the records , I am not sure.

Cleve’s Halloween Playlist By Cleve Taylor Wow. What a trip. I just listened to my playlist on YouTube, and I want to go to my party just to listen to my music again. It will be good to see you there, too. But the music is F I N E, and is a good listen anytime of the year. If you miss hearing it this Halloween, give it a go on Thanksgiving or Christmas.

I really am not much of a musical expert by any means. I am just your average stay-at-home mom with a lot of apparent free time on her hands to compile all of my random music into playlists.

I was having so much fun with my first playlist, that I just kept going and rolled into a Volume 2. There's a good chance I could easily roll into a Volume 3...but we'll take care of that when the time comes.
