A Composition by Kerri Powles. Taken from her 'Spirits In The Wind' Album

I am a self-taught Composer/Musician, who has written many pieces of music over the years. Some can be described as New Age, a lot are very spiritual in nature, and I have also written some ballads. I cannot read or write music in notation form, which may seem unorthodox to some, but seems to work very well for me, as I feel I can concentrate all my efforts on just letting the music flow naturally through me into whatever instrument I am playing at the time. I generally hear music fully orchestrated in my head, and replicate what I hear 'track by track' using a now rather old (16 years) Yamaha PSR2000 keyboard, and then sometimes incorporate myself playing an acoustic instrument over the top.

I am rather limited to what I can achieve with the instrument I own at present, but I am saving for better equipment. I know the quality of my work could be greatly improved with a modern workstation/keyboard, but that being said, my work is extremely well-received by all who listen to it.

My ultimate dream, of course, is to become well-known for my music. It has to be said I don't crave fame as such (being rather a private individual) but I do feel I deserve recognition for my compositions... who knows... maybe one day

I was raised in a very musical household. Surrounded by music from dawn till dusk. I have fond memories of my father tenderly placing his precious records onto his latest hi-fi turntable, and on pain of death, no one else in the family could go near Dads records or hi-fi, it seemed almost more like a sacrificial offering my father was passing up to the Gods, rather than simply putting on a record, such was the reverence in which it was done. That being said, I was mesmerized by the strains of Anton Bruckner, Mahler, Grieg, and Samuel Barber to name but a few. I quickly developed a love for classical music, and some people have commented that my music shows how much I have been influenced by other composers. I love most genres of music, but classical has and will always be my first love. I discovered I could play the piano at age 5, when my parents inherited my Granny's old piano, and the piano has been my favouite instrument ever since, although in more recent years, I have since discovered that I can play a variety of different instruments also. Apart from the keyboard I also play the Chinese Dizi; Chinese Hulusi; Chinese Xiao; Native American flute, Irish whistle, Harmonica, Ukulele, and occasionally sing.

As already explained I cannot read or write music in notation form. It surprises people to learn that I suffer a form of dyslexia when it comes to reading and writing music. I compose my pieces directly on my Yamaha keyboard, building my pieces up track by track until I get the desired piece. Sometimes I feel that not being able to write it down is a good thing for me, as I feel that I am not hindered by the 'technicalities' of music, but instead can concentrate all my efforts on the raw emotion of the piece.

I would say music takes up most of my day in one form or another. When I'm not busy composing in my little box room at home, I'm out playing music with friends at Acoustic sessions and charity events, and my own compositions have been met very favourable indeed. I have even sold a few albums! My second love, apart from my husband naturally, would be photogaphy.

I do hope you like my music as much as I have enjoyed composing them.

My latest album comprises of music I have composed on various wind instruments, such as the Chinese Hulusi, Chinese Dizi, Irish whistle, and Native American flute.

A 12-track album of a selection of relaxing music.

Tranquil, calming music to soothe the soul and calm the senses. I am inspired by the beautiful countryside where I live in the Welsh hills. My music can be sad, calming, relaxing, yet at times strangely uplifting. I hope you will be soothed, uplifted and inspired in equal measure.

A 12-track album of a selection of relaxing music. Peaceful classical music for relaxation and meditation.

Be soothed by the sound of gentle rainfall in "Gently Falls The Rain" or caught up in a whirlwind of romance in "A Moment of Passion."

A 12-track album of a selection of relaxing music.

My very first album which has a selection of music ranging from the more ethereal outer space pieces such as "Out of This World" and "Infinity," to the more serene down to earth music such as "Dawn Chorus" and "In Beauty May I Walk."
