Issa Vibe - The Playlist You Need

I speak music fluently...

It's one of my favorite things to talk about (and sometimes argue about) because I'm so passionate about it. Too bad I have ZERO musical talent outside of putting people onto new shit daily lol! God knew not to give me any pipes because I would've been #undealwithable!

I've heard a lot of people over the last year or two say that R&B is dead and for awhile it was definitely in a coma. It may not be the R&B we grew up listening to but if you know where to look you can find so many gems. Don't fret though, guys & gals! I've put together a playlist that's amazing so you don't have to look too far.

Some of the artists are a lot more popular now so below are some short blurbs on some of my favorite songs from the lesser known artists.

"Sideline" - Niia ft Jazmine Sullivan

I love this song. LOVE. "It's like I have you, but I don't really have you. But I'm giving you all of me, when I only get half of you..." LISTEN! You don't know my life LOL! I think It's easy for a song featuring Jazmine to become HER song because her voice is so powerful but Niia remains this great presence and their vocals play really well together. Just listen for the runs and riffs starting at the 2:54 mark. My goodness! Niia's album 'I' is also a really solid body of work so definitely check her out outside of the playlist.

"Alright" - Jordan Rakei

This man is soulful AF! This song and many, many others of his give you all the old R&B feels. His voice is smooth and soothing. I've heard Jordan likened to D'Angelo but I don't like making those types of comparisons. I could see an influence though. This song has a really great piano solo that moves into a guitar solo and I bet $5 you won't be able to keep yourself from swaying to it. 'Groove Curse' is the EP that this song is on but you should also check out his latest album 'Wallflower.'

"If You Let Me" - Sinead Harnett

Oh, Sinead. I love her ass. "If You Let Me" is sexy and will make you wonder where the rest of her music is so let me tell you...'Chapter One' dropped a couple of months ago and it. is. Good! If you don't make it to the album right away check out "Want It With You" as a bonus. It's on my playlist as well. #ThankMeLater.

"Kites" - Anik Khan

Anik has a kind of grit to his voice that I really like. "Kites" is a little funky and makes me want to sing loudly (and badly) which makes me love it even more. A bit different from the other artists highlighted above in that I don't love the rest of his music but this song usually gets played 3x in a row before I'm able to move on.

There are a ton of different artists on the playlist so I'm sure you'll come across some things you have heard and a lot that you haven't. Enjoy!
