As I was cleaning my room thinking about my latest short lived relationship my Spotify decided to introduce me to the most beautiful, empowering women I had yet to hear come from my dusty room speakers. With the opening lyrics making me feel like the baddest b*tch I had ever been, I knew this women had already changed the way I saw myself.

"I just took a DNA test, turns out I'm 100% that b*tchEven when I'm crying crazyYeah, I got boy problems, that's the human in meBling bling, then I solve 'em, that's the goddess in meYou coulda had a bad b*tch, non-committalHelp you with your career just a littleYou're 'posed to hold me down, but you're holding me backAnd that's the sound of me not calling you back"

If you have not heard of Lizzo yet, I HIGHLY recommend opening up a YouTube browser and turning your volume up. I have never related to, nor have I ever heard an artist write such inspirational, empowering, catchy songs before; and her songs not only empower women. Songs such as "Boys" embrace loving all types of boys that live on this god forsaken earth.

Not only has Lizzo recently performed at 2019's Coachella but Rolling Stones have also just interviewed her; proclaiming her to be "a powerhouse singer, a fast rapper and an excellent dancer whose charisma makes any performance irresistibly joyful."

As a young female artist myself I found Lizzo to be beyond inspiring because of how confident she is, not only with her clear message of girl power ("Like a Girl"), but her love for her own body. Her songs alone are already fire, but with that added rare flare of all over self love just makes Lizzo become the ultimate package. All young girls, teenagers, and women of all ages NEED to listen to this new artist.

Lizzo's style of song writing in particular is captivating, because her lyrics sound like she is having a conversation with you. Lizzo writes her music in a language that our generation speaks fluently. Instead of trying to stay formal, she says it like it is.

Lizzo's lyrical experiences are created from real life situations, with the language that would have been used at that time;

“I’m jumping straight into a scenario on certain songs where I’m literally sitting in a car with someone crying and I’m like, ‘Pull this car over, I need to get this off my chest, Or when I’m literally sending a text to a f*ckboy saying ‘Take yo’ ass home. Stop texting me.’ There’s literal specifics here. You’re in the scene of a movie: my movie, my life.”

In today's society we are constantly comparing and tearing ourselves down due to looking online at airbrushed, photoshopped, morphed, unrealistic expectations. Lizzo breaks that stigma. She addresses how all women should really be feeling about themselves. Strong, powerful, sexy, and unstoppable.

"Find me up in Magic City bustin' hundreds by the bandsAnd I throw it like a girlThrow it, throw it like a girlHangin' out the 750Feelin' bossy in my city'Cause I run it like a girlRun it, run it like a girlI work my femininityI make these boys get on their kneesNow watch me do it, watch me do itLook it, look it, I'mma do itLike a girl (Like a girl)Like a girl (Like a girl)"
