Doing It Well

All the ladies love LL Cool J. Especially those lips, he even licks them every 30 seconds to 1 minute. Before all the hall and fame for Mr. Macho Man, LL Cool J was born James Todd Smith January 14, 1968 in Long Island, New York. When he was growing up in New York, he took the name LL Cool J (which stands for "Ladies Love Cool James") as his rapper name. As he reached his teen years, he signed to Def Jam Records in 1984. The label was founded by Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin. Not too long after signing with Def Jam, he released a hit song called "I Need a Beat," which sold more than 100,000 copies. LL Cool J left school to record his debut album Radio. There were two major hits on that album that sold one million copies. Those hits were "I Can't Live Without My Radio" and "Rock the Bells." In 1985, he appeared in a movie called Krush Groove. Other famous artists and groups appeared in the movie also. New Edition, Fat Boys, and Run D.M.C. were in the movie like LL Cool J. His first speaking role was in 1986, the movie was called Wildcats. In 1987, he made his follow up album Bigger and Deffer. His hit song "I Need Love" showed a another side of LL Cool J that we have never seen. But the song became a hit on the pop and rap charts.

Two years later, he made another album called Walking With a Panther. His fourth album Mama Said Knock You Out became one of his top albums and songs in his rap career till today. The song won him a Grammy. There were other hits like "Around the Way Girl" and "The Booming System." It is now the 1990s, he decided to try movies again. He also joined Jamie Lee Curtis in Halloween H2O in 1998. In Too Deep and Any Given Sunday were also some other movies he was in. He worked with Samuel L. Jackson, Omar Epps, Cameron Diaz, Al Pacino, and Jamie Foxx. Around the time he was filming movies, he wrote an autobiography called I Make My Own Rules. LL Cool J wasn't done with music and acting. He starred in a few more movies and also did TV shows like Kingdom Come with Whoopi Goldberg, Vivica Fox, and Jada Pickett Smith and S.W.A.T with Samuel L. Jackson, Michelle Rodriguez, and Colin Farrell. He was also in Deliver Us From Eva with Gabrielle Union and Meagan Good, and Mind Hunters with Val Kilmer and Christian Slater. LL Cool J authored a children's book called And the Winner Is. The movie Last Holiday with him and Queen Latifah made $38 million at the box office. That is one of my favorite movies with him in it.

Then he did more music and albums while still working on his acting career. "Head Strung" was a number one hit for LL Cool J. Of course you definitely remember LL Cool J in NCIS: Los Angeles. Where is LL Cool J now? He is married to his wife Simone since 1995. They have 4 wonderful children together. He has a clothing line called "FUBU" (For Us, By Us.) He is one of the host of the show Lip Sync Battle with Chrissy Teigen. He got a star on Hollywood walk of fame. LL Cool J really accomplished a lot and came such a long way. He is a very smart and intelligent man. Not only is he a very good rapper, but he is also a very VERY good actor. Keep on rapping and acting. Keep doing you and I'm a big fan.
