My Take on Shawn Mendes

I'm gonna start off by saying that Shawn "Daddy" Mendes is a hot piece of ass. Damn. I just have to get this part over with so I can start talking about his music and all that jazz. He is so attractive. He has that I'm-a-nerd-but-I'm-also-super-cute thing going on, but we all know he can also be aggressively hot at the same time. He is the kind of guy that will talk non-stop about Harry Potter's third cousin while he chokes you. Yeah, we all know Shawn's Canadian and "all Canadians are nice and polite" or whatever, and I'm not saying he's not nice. He's really nice. But he can also be super rude, if you know what I mean. Listen to a few of his songs and you'll understand. I have a feeling he's a gentleman on the streets and a freak in the sheets.

Now that we're done talking about how hot he is, let's get into more important matters. His music. Shawn is a singer-songwriter who is very involved in the process of making his songs. I have so much respect for artists like him, who are really hands on every step of the way. From songwriting to performing, Shawn is immersed in his music. There's so many singers who would rather sit back and get a pre-made song that they just have to sing and perform than to be taking part in the making of the songs. He also plays guitar and piano, which is lovely.

Something I really like about Shawn is how much he loves his fans. "Oh but all artists love their fans. he's not special." Yes, all artists love their fans, but this is different. Shawn really cares about them. Some people might say, "He doesn't care about them because he doesn't know them." Listen. I don't know how to explain it. All I'm saying is that Shawn has a connection with his fanbase. Something that I think has a lot to do with this is that he is just a normal guy. Sure, he's famous, but he doesn't act like it. He goes out on the street, he takes pictures with people and signs autographs and just keeps it moving along. He doesn't make a big deal out of the money he earns, he's not going around flexing and showing off. I'm not part of the Shawn Mendes Army but even I can see that this man has a special relationship with his fans.

I love Shawn Mendes' music. I must admit, I've cried listening to his songs. I was sad and I didn't want to talk to anybody because I felt like nobody would ever understand how I was feeling. I was sitting in an empty train on the way home from school and my Spotify was on shuffle. I wasn't even listening to the music. I was too deep in my thoughts to hear anything, until I snapped out of it because I could hear Shawn talking instead of singing. As I listened I started crying because he was talking about the exact thing that was making me sad. I couldn't believe that not only was he putting my feelings into words, but also telling me that it's OK and that I'm gonna be OK. The song is called "Understand" in case you want to look it up.

Let me just say that I remember listening to "Mercy" on the radio for the first time and thinking, "Damn, he has improved a lot. He's grown now." I don't know much about singing but I can tell that Shawn has gotten so much better with time. And don't even get me started on the high notes in "Nervous."

While Shawn is rich and successful he is still (from what I know) very down to earth. I've never met him which means I can't be the judge of how he really is, but from what I have seen he seems like a very sweet person. I feel like since he started by doing covers on YouTube, then he was a Magcon boy (throwback to Magcon, those were some dark times), we've gotten to see him grow into who he is now.

Shawn is amazing. I know his album just came out but I'm already excited for his next album. Go listen to his album if you (for some reason) haven't.
