Review of 5 Seconds of Summer's "Teeth"

5SOS's Newest Single

5 Seconds of Summer have been taking some time after the :Meet You There" tour to consider thoughts, feelings, life and their music.

New music is always something that the band is thinking about and working towards. Ashton Irwin, the band's drummer, has made it very clear that the band always works together on their vision and they always want to break the boundaries that the music industry holds them to.

Personally, I have been with 5 Seconds of Summer through all of their growth and change. Something that I cherish about this band is that even though they dip their toes in a little bit of everything and are influenced by many different styles and artists, their sound is always new and original.

During their hiatus, their fans were kind of just stuck in a worrisome state of whether or not the band was going to come back and if they were coming back, just exactly how long was that supposed to take?

However, that too-long wait gave us the record-breaking album that is Youngblood, which showcased some pretty dramatic changes in 5 Seconds of Summer's style and sound. And you thought they were done!

Now they are working on their fourth studio album and first dropped the single, "Easier," which received the utmost praise from fans. "Easier" broke another boundary for the band by really being Youngblood's edgy sister and keeping some of the same pop sounds with a more dark tone.

However, with one 5SOS single, one is following closely behind. In this case, we were gifted "Teeth."

Now, in my opinion, "Teeth" is unlike anything I have ever heard from 5 Seconds of Summer. To me, it's almost like 80s popstar meets modern day e-boy. The bass line is simple but heavy, and it's something I can really groove to but also get an eerie feeling from.

This song sounds powerful while also sounding a bit spooky. It is definitely going to be on repeat during Halloween time! Also, Luke Hemming's vocals are actually insane on this track! I am very excited to see this song performed live when they go on tour. Cue moshpits.

"Easier" and "Teeth" are definitely exciting new takes on their Youngblood era. I am excited to hear what the rest of the album sounds like since these singles depict that. It'll probably be intense, striking and unforgiving. Almost as if this new album is the sequel to Youngblood and being dangerously unapologetic after getting your heart broken. Just a theory... but an interesting one!

While new music keeps dropping left and right everywhere, I truly do believe that we are experiencing the very beginning of what is going to be the "reign" of 5 Seconds of Summer. They're going to keep building on this passion and continue to redefine themselves as they grow more and more as people. As long as they stay true to themselves, their music will stay raw, real, relevant and will continue to rise and break records.

If you have not taken the time to give "Easier" or "Teeth" a listen, I highly recommend that you take care of that, because 5 Seconds of Summer are on the rise once again. I am expecting this album to be probably one of the best of the year, and I'm hoping it will come out before their fall tour with The Chainsmokers so I can learn all the songs before I see them again!

Even if you (for whatever idiotic reason) don't like 5 Seconds of Summer and their music, I can guarantee you will be hearing these jams on the radio for a long time!

Stream and buy "Easier" and "Teeth" now and do yourselves a favor!
