Songs That Speak When I Don't Have Words—Songs by the 1975

Have you ever had those songs that are so soulful and whole, that in any mood, it can make you feel alive? Or so deep in words that crying is the only way of coping?

Woah, the only words are woah.

I started listening to the band (The 1975) about a year ago, I can't remember exactly what song it was, all I know was that I couldn't get enough of them. Each of their songs had applied to something in my life that I had either experienced, wished, loved, or made me feel so in love with the clouds that I didn't want to come down. They gave me the chance to feel like I was flying or falling in love while doing homework at school.

My musical taste is very diverse and I love to have emotions and memories tied with a song. Whether from traveling, crying, partying, or daydreaming about falling in love. Tracks that were made for reasons that I don't know of, give me reasons, feelings and inspiration at any point in my day. These are my top five favorite songs and what they mean to me.

'Somebody Else'

At the time, I was heartbroken from a relationship that I had just got out of. When hearing that song, my entire being was completely shaken to its core. They had the ability to turn the feelings and pains into words that I didn't know could be explained. The song describes how you heard that the person you lost is in love with someone else. And you don't want to think about them anymore, but you can't help think about them with somebody else. Glass walls that surround your heart shatter when you hear this song. That you aren't alone in heartbreak, everyone has been hurt in different ways, but the pain is the same.

'The Sound'

Such a blasting song that has such a "screw you" meaning. The beat is created from your heart beat. Saying goodbye to all the losers who break hearts. Types where they "don't get it," "but I said I love you," or "I thought that you were straight, but now I'm wondering." All these people are the ones that give the drums, synthesizer, electric guitar and keyboard the sound of a heart breakers heart beating, but in an epic awe. The beat of their heart, gives the rhythm to the entire feeling expressed.

'Girls'

Out of all the things that they could say to you, do to you, promise you or adventure together, we are still girls. We break boys hearts, dress pretty to pull them in even if we are young. Since I am 17, this song is such a banger to play to get myself hype. The song gives the feeling that, yeah I am just a girl, but I'm a girl that can lead you on, play you, make you feel special and the break your heart. Dancing to the power that I could have over someone.

'Love It If We Made It'

ACTIONS ARE WHAT MAKE US. All these actions that we have done, make us who we are, but we want our actions to be changed into something we love. We would love it if we made it to wherever we want to be in our lives. Anything that we do, would have to be accomplished by all the things we would want, showing how much we would love it, if we made it. (One of the songs that truly doesn't make sense, but your emotions make it feel like it makes sense. Such an amazing vibe, and a crazy thing about the human mind and soul. Just, wow.)

'Fallingforyou'

Such an ambient background with a soothing voice, like feeling the sun on your face in the first summer day, eating your favorite food and having it be perfect, the grass while walking barefoot, or falling into a bed after a long day. All these feelings are something that stimulates love, but nothing like falling in love with someone. It has the eerie awareness like kissing someone you like for the first time. The journey of falling in love with you, is happening through your ears in a four minute song. (If you have heard this song, imagine someone loving this song too and you're both in the car just letting it play in the silence. Imagine that)

My entire life has been surrounded by music. When words fail, music speaks. And music can be played quiet, but it won't be silenced. If I ever become silent, at least my music can't. The 1975 has provided the sound to my musical voice, not in just these songs but in all of them.
