Gales of Melody
Music has played a major role in people’s lives for hundreds of years. Whether it ranges from times of celebration to worship or even joy and pleasure. But in turn music has always played a part in telling people’s own personal feelings that they wish they could let out but don’t have a way of doing so. For me music can sometimes also tell people’s stories too. Even the lyrics when it mentions certain things it becomes almost like a recording of the past. But that’s when music not only helps relieve some memories, but it can also help heal and strengthen even the darkest ones that are made. All my life I have had so many ups and downs and I know this may sound cliché like any writer or music lover would say but, music truly became my comfort to get me through some of the most painful parts of my life. But if there is one thing that I have learned is that when you reach your lowest points and when you reach rock bottom. It’s when it becomes your most pinnacle moment in life that gives you the strength to rise from the bottom to the top.

I've been waiting to do something like this for a while. I certainly have the number of playlists for it... Playlists are a huge part of my daily routine. They also play a major part in helping me develop characters and stories and bring extra enjoyment to my other hobbies! Whether I'm pacing the office, cleaning the kitchen, tearing it up in World of Warcraft, or just relaxing in the bathtub, I've got a playlist for it - or I'll make one! Think I've got close to 300 on Spotify, and I'm afraid to look at the other lists on my iPod...

I shared an earlier version of this letter with my sister Phyllis weeks before she died in October 2014. Phyllis gave me the gift of music. I’m forever grateful and I could not have created the following playlist without her. This is part of my ongoing pratice and project to write “not left unsaid” letters to people who have had an impact on my life. Don’t wait to tell the people you love and care for what they mean to you. Reach out, even if it’s with just a short note, a card, a text, or a voice mail. Leave nothing unsaid when it comes to your appreciation for those who matter most in your life.

The Bold Beats and Classic Cuts of a Millennial
Like Kendrick Lamar, I was born in 1987, the end of the Ronald Reagan era. I came of age as a millennial just outside Seattle, Washington. But I didn't listen to grunge. At least then.
An Audio Story
I wonder about the power of music, and I worried about writing this story. And is it a story? Am I giving you a real narrative? I have had a very hard time with this particular piece, and I had to write down all of my material in freehand before I could even think about typing this out. And I needed a particular set of rules:

When I was a five-year-old I said I wanted to be a cowboy. That’s not quite what I meant though. I really had no interest in cows at all. I meant that I wanted to be a good guy, and vanquish the bad guys. I wanted to pull my six-shooter from its holster, twirl it around my trigger finger and shoot the pistol out of my enemy’s hand. In short, I wanted to be the Lone Ranger. I even had a dream that he left me a white horse just like Silver in the basement. The dream was so vivid I literally had to go down the basement to see for myself. I was crushed. https://open.spotify.com/track/44IIQu5ssU1dH6v709L2UF?si=1035ec1976a442cd The William Tell Overture (Royal Philharmonic Orchestra)
As I Phyxate
1997 Lets start things off on how my music repertoire began. The very first exposure I had to live music was a Bob Dylan concert when I was less than a year old. Although this doesnt seem possible for a baby to recall, it's been proven that infants brains absorb music and sounds from a young age that stay with them throughout not only childhood, but adulthood as well, and form a basic foundation. While Bob Dylan is usually an aquired taste, his stylization has always held a special place in my heart. The folk singing methods and simple melodies filled with harmonics feels like the home I grew up in. Appropriately this song in particular "The Times They Are A-Changin'", fit right into my beginnings of coming into this world, a changing, new world for myself and a changing one for my newly made parents.

World of Warcraft has been a big part of my life since 2009. So too, has my main; my first-ever character, the female Forsaken, Shadowsithe Ghoststrike. She is Guild Master of <Spectre and Shadow> on Blackwater Raiders, and a major farmer, buyer, and seller. She also sometimes hosts giveaways, or just plain gifts people random mounts and pets, or she seeks out rares for others to get other mounts and hunter tames! Breaks up the endless task of farming, you know?
