'TESTING'—A$AP Rocky

A$AP Rocky, the king of high fashion, psychedelic visions, music, freestyle, acting, and now a full scale artistic demonstration. TESTING was a long time coming and now it raises the bar for any current rappers. Although, it came out 4 months ago, I still listen to it daily. A$AP has always been a consistent high roller on shuffle. The official release date was May 25th 2018. Projects had been shown prior by Rocky, hinting at the creation of a new album.

The AWGE DVDs (Vol. 1—Sept. 8th 2017, Vol. 2—Aug. 25 2017, and Vol. 3—July 24 2018) were an obvious example of shenanigans surrounding a new flow. Vol 1. features Lil Uzi Vert and Tyler the Creator whom both have had a successful 2017. Playboicarti also makes an appearance which supports the theory of testing sound limits. Carti has a steady new wave flow and reputation for rapid fire release. Following onto Vol 2. Slump God is most shocking and confirms Rocky's rebirth into new wave rap. Still keeping the respect in Always Striving And Prospering.

AWGE DVD Vol. 3 was far the most impressive to me, personally. Almost a year later, A$AP releases the latest addition to AWGE DVDs. Coming back with clever freestyles, fresh facts, and high production value. The video is littered with trippy edits and loading screens. Adding the touch of surrealism to a cozy life. A$AP Ferg shows his talent in the Kanye West studio session and throws an impressive freestyle. At one point, playing with king yeezy himself.

A$AP Rocky tunes into an introspective, higher form of artists this year. He explores the realms of new thought processes of young rappers, testing sound and what it means to him and his future pursuits. Overall, Rocky has always had talent and now is only getting prettier. I experienced the album as learning the turning tides of music and zoning out to a comfortable high. My favorite songs are "Gunz N Butter," "Purity," and "F**K Sleep." The song "Mario Kart" (A$AP ANT and A$AP Rocky) also appear on AWGE DVD Vol. 3, make sure to listen.

This album ultimately triumphs over any other albums dropped during 2018. None other has been to the quality, nostalgic, and breakthrough as this sound wave. It proves its cultural relevance through DVD daily life of a venture rap artist. Piercing the tones of trap-jazz manipulation and catchy hooks of the new wave. Bringing back the "Purple Swag" to an industry which has suffered the wrath of mumble rap influence. Music truly can make a summer and this one turned mine into a fine hustle. Giving us all the inspiration to be apart of TESTING our dreams.
