Who Was The Memphis Boy?

Looking for my break

What does it take to make it in a lost world?

Who was The Memphis Boy?

The Memphis Boy was a young singer-songwriter. He got lost in the music somewhere, a young man, who got beat up in a small town in Arizona, and was transferred to Texas, by the guys who he took the beating for.

Yes, the boy ending up in Memphis TN 10 years later, after Elvis died, around 1986 to say the least. No one knew he could write songs, or play the guitar, that is good, because he had been beaten so bad. He started working for a car stereo shop in Memphis, TN, married a girl there, and had a child, who would not even pay attention to him, that's what happens in some marriages, they just get lost in the picture somewhere.

So let's get back to the story, The Memphis Boy, that's who we are interested in. So the young man was found by a man Dan Foust, who heard a song on a cassette tape, a really good song "Sweet Misery," boy they jumped on this one, this boy had talent. Well, Dan Foust and the Memphis Boy became good friends, Dan brought in Bb Cuningham from the hombre's" band 1966 hit "let it all hang out." Do you are remember?

Anyway, the song was recorded, the masters put on the shelf. That night after signing publishing contracts the sons of Dan Foust came in the studio, and looked for a master to record onto, so guess whose song got erased, yes, The Memphis Boy's. Who would have known until it was time to let someone hear the song, but no audio, it was gone bye, bye. Now, where do we go?

Dan Foust lost his life in a car accident in around 2000. So the only one who had a copy of the song was the copyright office, I wonder if he could get that copy or a copy of that recording from them, since he sent it in before Danbmark publishing did. So what happened to the Memphis Boy, and who is he? First things first. This guy the "MB" went on to Springfield, MO. A young man who was from the band The Ozark Mountain Deir Devils, recorded a song called The "Memphis Boy."

The song ended up in Memphis, TN at Sun Recordings, it was to be sung by none other than Ruffus Thomas, you know "Walking the Dog." Ruffus heard the song over the telephone, he liked it. Well, what happened? We should have heard this song by now. Ruffus died in 1987, before he recorded the song.

Here we go a again, no record deal yet. The person that was portrayed as the Memphis Boy took all his songs to Tucson, AZ that was his home this was a 14-year trek for this young man, who thought he had a chance at the big time.

Now let me tell you about this young man now grown up. His grandpa worked with the Texas Rangers, before this young man had met him, but to find out that the Sabino Canyon in Tucson, this young man's grandpa built the bridge's and waterfalls in that canyon, what a job. Now hear some more. The labor for this stone masonry was none other than the Chief of the Yaqui Indians in 1970. No one knew all these people were unknown. Only the families knew.

So who is the Memphis Boy? We are gonna get to that in a moment. There is more, so sit down, and take it all in. The person that they called the Memphis Boy was still writing songs, I hear them on SoundCloud.com and reverbnation.com. This young man wasn't the best at productions and recording, but if you listen to the music he put together you can see he had potential. Yes if he could get a hold of that first recording in Memphis it would make his day.

Now here is some good stuff, he's in Tucson and planning something big to come of all this, he can record and produce music. Way back in 1987, he started to write some short songs and record. In 1998 he worked for a sheet metal company. One day he took two weeks off and bought himself a computer, taught himself how to operate the system, purchased software called cool edit pro, picked up a keyboard, learned midi from books, and recorded an album in two weeks. The boy had some smarts. So the story us about determination. He will never stop for a million years, even to time indefinite he will keep going, because his producer is his father in Heaven. Oh he is not dead, he lives on here in Tucson, AZ. I can't be done yet, you don't know who this is, and you don't know if there is a new song coming out. All the above yes. Who is the Memphis Boy none other than the boy who wore his pants funny.
