The Most Romantic Playlist of the 21st Century

Oh, those romantic songs, the inseparable part of pop culture. Sometimes they are cheesy, and sometimes they are heartbreaking. Some of them are closer to feel-good songs, while others are so dramatic that you get the feeling that composers created a musical equivalent of tear gas. With thousands of dating sites, you may get confused with the topics to discuss when you meet girls online. While it's highly unlikely that you are going to discuss your musical preferences on the sites designed for hook-ups, this topic is still quite popular when you are getting to know each other better online. So, are there any special songs that you have to know? Of course, you can always count on your own musical taste, but if you want to impress your online date-mate, we've concluded the list of the most romantic songs of the 21st century that can easily make you stand-out among other online-daters. Mind that some of the choices may seem weird, but a pinch of oddity never killed anybody.

"Kiss with a Fist" by Florence + The Machine

"And a kiss with a fist is better than none..." Well, it didn't take that long to get to weird choices. This song about a couple who pretty much enjoyed hitting each other as a kind of manifesting love was the debut single of the British indie band, Florence + The Machine. Released on June the 9th, 2008, the song experienced less than modest chart success. Basically, it peaked at #51 on the UK Singles Chart, and that's all. Absence of chart success, however, was easily compensated by the number of TV-series and films it was used in. From NBC's Community to ABC's Cougar Town. Florence Welch clarified that the song is not about domestic violence, and even not about physical violence, but actually about the relationship in which people like exaggerating their drama. Mind that explanation if you decide to impress someone with the knowledge of this song, as your date-mate may decide that you are into beating your lovers.

"We Found Love" by Rihanna

Unlike the previous entry, which charted almost nowhere, Rihanna's, "We Found Love" was a worldwide hit, topping the charts almost in every corner of the world. Having sold around 11 million copies, the song remains one of the best-selling singles of all-time. The hugely popular music video may easily confuse you about the song's actual meaning. In the video, we see two-drug addicts falling in love, and then we observe their relationship going down, spiraling into violence and abuse. But the song is actually anthemic. Its chorus is actually, "We found love in a hopeless place," and after wasting many months on some online dating site, finally finding your perfect match, you gonna find yourself humming this tune to yourself.

"Take Me to Church" by Hozier

Just like the first entry, "Take Me to Church" is a debut single, just like the second entry, it was an international hit. You may get confused by the music video, that the song is about a homosexual relationship, but it's actually about love in general. The lyrics of the song have its protagonist comparing their lover to religion. While it may sound blasphemous for someone, for others nothing can be more romantic.
