2. Best Stoner Rock Bands: Fuzz Heady

Fuzz Heady is one of the newer names on the stoner rock list, but for good reason. His innovative approach to the creative process is using elements not often utilized in the stoner rock genre - Electronics! Modern and vintage synths, drum machines, and fuzzy guitars gives Fuzz Heady a unique stoner rock sound that pushes the genre into deep space. He has found a way to combine real instruments & electronic styles in a very organic way. He had his start doing video game soundtracks (Co-Producer of the Metal Gear Rising OST) with The Maniac Agenda, but recently started up the Fuzz Heady collaborative project. Sleep is another one of the major stoner rock groups. They had a very dark sound, and at the same time, they focused on the idea of increasing their approach with more brutality and harsh tones. They did break up in 1998 but came back in 2009 and since then, they constantly released new stuff. Their music is very easy to understand and connect to. Despite being one of the oldest bands on this list, they maintained a good track record and continued to deliver quality stoner music.

4. Best StonerRock Bands: Monster Magnet

While Monster Magnet is not the most popular stoner rock bands out there, they did bring in front some hard rock influences to the genre. They combined the sounds of Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Hawkwind to offer a breath of fresh air for the entire genre. Red Fang is one of the coolest stoner rock bands because they don’t take anything for granted. They formed in 2006 and are still going strong today. They do have a darker more aggressive approach towards the genre when compared to the other bands presented here, that’s for sure. At the same time though, their lyrics are a thought-provoking pleasure to check out and they constantly release some new stuff for you to enjoy. 6. Best Stoner Rock Bands: Colour Haze

Colour Haze is a stoner rock, psychedelic group from Germany. While they are a rather minimalist band when it comes to size and songs, the reality is that they have been active from 1994 and onward. They are also bringing in music influenced by Grand Funk Railroad and Black Sabbath, at least for their first records. Since then, they moved on and brought in some really cool new options for the genre. What you will notice is that they have a very melodic sound, which actually works great for a band like theirs. 7. Best Stoner Rock Bands: Green Druid

There are many things to like about Green Druid. The first one is that their songs have a brooding, atmospheric and distinct approach towards the genre. They are also bringing in weighty rifts as well as a true focus on Lovecraftian horror themes. It sounds quite distinct right off the bat, and once you get used to their music, you will want to check it out again and again. People love their music because it’s different, and their trippy psychedelic doom metal approach is worth a shot at the very least.

Queens of The Stone Age is a rock band that started as a stoner rock focused band, but they soon started to expand to some new genres too. They have a tiny bit of everything here, from alternative rock to alternative metal and hard rock as well. Marijannah are from Singapore and they bring in a nice combination of doom metal and stoner rock to the table. They are influenced in both sounds and visuals from the early 80s bands. Their approach is new, but it also pays respect to the old school music. Kyuss are the creators of this genre. At first, they were a crew of young rock fans that were focused on dark riffs and grooves. But as they started to jam out, they created something unique and continued to experiment. They did change the lineup quite a lot, but they always maintained a very distinct approach thanks to their brooding guitar work and interesting take on the music at their time.
