Urban Tales Volume Two is the second installment in the trilogy. Volume One dealt with growing up in the inner city with stand out stories like "Grandma's House" and "Life Like." The trilogy of Urban Tales is Artcha's mature take on life and growing through generations, culture, politics, education, and relationships. Volume Three is due in the last quarter of 2019 and there are plans to turn all of the musical stories into a theatre production at the top of 2020. Urban Tales Volume Two is accompanied by a short film by Artcha @artchatec Directed by @LDN.Creative and starring @jodyvleigh and @himalsoul. The film places the classic Romeo and Juliet scenario into modern context. How far has society changed when it comes to mixed relationships? In fact, this film opens the debate to relationships in general and the fundamental differences between men and women, addiction and restraint, the poor and the rich, the educated and the ignorant. Artcha has taken the roots of his second album, in the trilogy Urban Tales, to synthesize these ideas and broaden the horizon of what classic hip-hop storytelling can really do.

The new album #Urbantalesvolumetwo is out on 28th June on @clubfrshrz @believemusic_uk

Urban Tales Volume Two:

The Trauma had not been settled and they soon realised this was not their Destiny.

In Our Lives we often cope with various vices, summer days sipping on a Stella or

Ridin the underground going round in Circles. Sex in the city, relationship Triangles. We should

Run, come the morning, but we stay and eventually hit The Wall. This story was designed to hold up the mirror in the sun and reflect our

Glow. Thank you all.

- Artcha

  1. "Trauma" deals with raw realities of broken people trying to build a relationship and not having the "right" discussions early on in the relationship. Imagine that moment of clarity before feelings can be hurt?
  2. "Destiny" has a double meaning, seemingly a discussion about a woman who has been abused in the past but finds solace in new love but also the subtle commentary on modern hip-hop and in many ways the 'raping' of the culture for financial enterprise and exploration.
  3. Our lives is a record that is the heart of the short film Urban Tales Volume Two because the quest for love is not and should not be restricted to the same race or culture. The story is classic Romeo and Juliet for modern times, opening up more debates and questions on cultural values and histories.
  4. "Stella" is one of the first singles from the album and is at face value a story of betrayal and adultery but later details the slow fall into alcoholism and the disillusionment of the addiction.
  5. "Circles" has the female voice at the centre of the song expressing frustration and heartache when "she" wants "him" to take the lead and he fails. A common understanding is that men and women communicate differently and have fundamental presets when it comes to love and commitment.
  6. "Triangles" is the male perspective on "Circles." The different shapes symbolise the various dimensions between the sexes. However, the upbeat record mostly reflects on the great times in the relationship and how rapidly they descended into broken communication and bitterness.
  7. "Ridin" explores the sexual and sensual journey of a relationship. The moments when you reach euphoria, often seen as the "honey-moon" period. This is a vivid and humorous account of intimacy and lust.
  8. "Run, Come" is the rebound record. What happens when you've been hurt and betrayed, for a man, the knee jerk reaction is to go out on the town and exercise your turmoil. An upbeat club anthem that has enough hook lines to catch you in your feelings.
  9. "The Wall" deals with the aftermath of addictions. The point where you literally hit the wall, in this case are arrested for drink driving. In many ways this record should follow "Stella" but really echoes the sentiments of the whole album's concept: "We need to deal with our problems."
  10. "Glow" is the optimistic outlook on a darker tale of trials and tribulations. This record is a summer anthem asking us to glow despite our hurts and addictions. Up beat, funny and enough two step to burn 100 calories.
