When it comes to learning about all the new music out there in the independent circles, you cannot believe how much stuff is out there. Talk about finding a treasure trove! The bands that I have come to know just within these last few years, they all range from all girl bands to bands that hail from all the way across the ocean. So this is a short list of just SOME of the bands I have become acquainted with.

Give me some girl power!

MOXY & THE INFLUENCE

Starting in October 2013 by vocalist Moxy Anne and guitarist Sydney Ellen, Moxy and The Influence to this day keeps up with their agenda, which is hitting the charts with a vengeance! You of course had bands of strong female powerhouses back in the day like Janis Joplin, The Runaways, Blondie, and Patty Smith. And just like these gorgeous yet tough ass icons, Moxy and The Influence will simply kick your teeth in! Some of their tunes such as ALIVE, Me4Me, and Stomp You Down have such a sense of personal empowerment. Their chemistry as a group is just too delicious for words, and the fact that these ladies still have youth on their side, it only means that they have yet to touch the tip of the iceberg of what they are capable of accomplishing! As not just a fan, but someone who has been involved in the music industry for a better part of over a decade…I cannot WAIT to see what else these lovely badasses can dish out!

Hop, Skip, and a Jump…Across the Pond!

PARTISAN

Hailing all the way from Manchester, UK is none other than the band Partisan! Made up of Stuart Armstrong (Lead Vocals/Guitar), Dan Albon (Bass Guitar), and Leo Stanfield (Drums), this power trio just fills your ears with kick tail rock music that has you just wanting to jump through the roof of whatever joint they are playing at. Their first U.S. Tour back in 2016, they started at Pianos in NYC and then made their way to L.A. and played at the legendary Whiskey A Go-Go! I say again…as part of their FIRST U.S. TOUR, they got booked at THE WHISKEY! I don’t know about you…but that right there earns Partisan MAJOR props and street cred amongst musicians; be it people in the independent circuit or folks within the “mainstream." In finding these guys on Twitter back in early 2016, their song PUSHING UP DAISIES is what nabbed me as a fan of theirs. The chorus to this tune goes as followed:

This is for the working boys in the factories,Working for the fat cats living life for free! This is for the girls who keep our sanity,Bringing up the future so that we might be free!We can do it all, we can do it all, we can do it allYeah Break Another Wall!

Definitely has a feel of a song you’d hear amongst revolutionaries telling the government where to stick it. The music video is even more expressive in that sense because you have people walking around in the same mask used in the movie V for Vendetta…which in my own opinion is just PERFECT due to the feel and message the song wants to get across.

Texas has more than country!

RAINCHILD

Hailing all the way from Houston, Texas…is a band that is most notable for creating music that just touches you down to your core. With songs that deal with ill emotions, vices, and hurt alongside their raw and uncompromising drive, Rainchild’s goal is to offer a unique music experience for their audience wherever they play. Along with their amazing originals such as "Watershed," "The Sound and Hanging Rose," front man Dustin Condon has done videos on the bands YouTube channel called Music Mondays, where he does quick covers of classic tunes. As someone who has been in web radio for little over a decade, we as hosts hear LOADS of bands do covers of unforgettable tunes. Some of them are amazing and then there are some that are just down right too embarrassingly bad to even finish listening to them. However, in the case of Dustin and his renditions of such songs as "Thunder Rolls," "Come Together," and "Hurt" are very well done. You can just tell that he puts his best foot forward in making sure his covers are something their originator(s) would be proud of, whether they are a minute and 30 seconds or a little longer.

The band's album Thorns is simply amazing and unique. The fact that the album was done in an acoustic style truly makes it stand out. It has been my experience as a music enthusiast that songs done acoustically tend to feel a bit more personal and intimate. Think about it. When you go see an acoustic performance somewhere like a café or a lounge, and you have that dim lighting along with the singer practically being right there next to you…don’t you feel the evening being a bit special? That is exactly how I felt when I listened to this Rainchild album.

Mind you all, this is just a SHORT list of some of the bands I have encountered within the independent circuit. There is WAY more out there that I will make you aware of as time goes on.

Not only will I be shining the light on bands and solo artists, but I will also bring you info on recording studios doing their thang and helping artists such as the ones I have mentioned above keep truckin' on through and taking over the charts!

So strap yourselves in, my darlings! For there is PLENTY more to come!
