Mac Miller and Ariana Grande

Not only does Ariana find a way to intrigue us with a voice powerful enough to hypnotize us, she somehow always finds a way to pull at our heartstrings more and more each day. Along with singing, Ariana also uses her voice to speak out against discrimination, to appreciate culture, and to speak about topics (such as LGBTQ and mental health) many people in our society today tend to dismiss.

The girl's had it hard the past few years. Her grandpa (who was essentially her father-figure growing up) died, and three years later, whilst she was still struggling to accept the death of her grandfather, 23 people died at her concert in Manchester, UK. This only worsened her anxiety and formed her PTSD. Many blamed her for the death of 23 people. Adding onto that, about a year later, her ex Mac Miller died of an accidental overdose. She was blamed for his death as well and people were said to be carrying knives around her apartment, giving her an anxiety attack which led her to be hospitalized.

Please give my girl a break. She's been through so much in such little time. Through the hurt and misery, Ariana was able to show her love for her diverse fans in a number of ways that reminded them she hasn't forgotten about their existence, and that instead, she was hurting alongside of them because of the discrimination they face.

A couple days after her infamous "Dangerous Woman" tour was completed, Ariana made one final stop: the Charlottesville Unity concert. She performed alongside other artists who simply refused to let hate trump love and showed her support for the BLM Movement. A true icon. March 24, 2018—Ariana performs at March for Our Lives, in solidarity with young teenagers who set out to reform gun laws. And of course—One Love Manchester Benefit concert. Not long after the fatal bombing at the dangerous woman Manchester concert, Ariana cried and mourned the victims with thousands of other at the benefit concert. The concert was hosted by Ariana herself and many other artists performed there as well with all of the proceedings going to victims of the bombing.

Not only is she an amazing artist but she is an amazing human. She fights against discrimination and oppression and encourages the appreciation of cultures, LGBTQ, etc. She's had it extremely rough in the past as well as in the present and continues to shower her fans with love and positivity through the hurt. Please cut the girl some slack. She is going through many mental health problems and doesn't need unnecessary hate to affect her health anymore—she is only human.

A wise person once asked me "How can a creation of God hate another creation of God created for the sole purpose of making mistakes?" Regardless of whether or not you believe in God or in any religion for that matter, there was something extremely important to take out of this: we all make mistakes. We all have the capability to make the same mistakes but many of us have the luxury of not being exposed and being made a mockery. It's not fair someone who has been through much more than a lot of people still has to deal with this amount of hate for such petty reasons. Please remember my girl is only 25. She is still living and learning and going through her own things as well. After everything she's been through, the least we can do is cut her some slack. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
