Utilizing Facebook Ads to Maximize Your Streams Across All Platforms

In today's world where social media is the easiest way to connect with fans, promoting your music as a musician has become easier than ever. You no longer need a label to promote your new releases for you (not that that was a secret). Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and most other social media platforms have paid promotion within the apps that are available to every user. The only question is; what is the best way to utilize these platforms for the best results?

Answer: Facebook ads!

Facebook not only has the best laser targeting integration, but also has the most active monthly users among all social media platforms coming in at over two billion. Because of their larger active user base, you will be able to reach more people with every ad than if you were to buy ads on Instagram or Twitter. Let me give you an example to show you what I mean.

If you bought one ad on Instagram and one ad on Facebook, with the exact same target audience settings and the same budget, you would be able to reach 1,200-3,200 people on Instagram. Sounds like a lot of people, right? Well, with that same ad on Facebook, you would be able to reach upwards of 1,200 people DAILY! And that's for only $10, so if you have a larger budget, you could reach a much larger audience through your ad.

It's a little harder to compare Facebook ads to Twitter's promotion system since the two platforms aren't owned by the same company, but I'll try anyway. Twitter is not as budget-friendly as other platforms, starting their paid promotion at $50. It should also be said that Twitter doesn't give the user the same targeting options or really any for that matter, making it harder to target an audience that would actually be interested in what you're promoting. For $50 on Twitter, you have a potential reach of 33K people. I'm not going to say that's not a lot of people because it is, but remember, Twitter doesn't allow the same specific audience targeting that Facebook does, meaning that many of the people in your ads reach won't be interested or even pay attention to your ad. Twitter also does not allow to choose the duration of your ad unlike Facebook.

For $50 on Facebook, you can reach an audience, that you targeted specifically as possible, of 1,900-8,100 people. For the sake of comparison let's say you run this ad for 10 days, and reached around 4.5K people every day. That adds up to 45,000 people in total, over 10,000 more people than you would've reached with the Twitter ad. Plus since Facebook gives you more options as to the targeted audience you wish to reach, you're more likely to reach more people who are genuinely interested in what you're advertising.

Facebook is without a doubt the best way to advertise your music. You're able to reach a wider, more specific audience that will engage with your ad and be interested in what you're posting. This will lead to more streams and more fans. So, if you're going to advertise your music, do it the right way, and use Facebook for the best results.
