Bleak and macabre, I'm basically the human equivalent of a ray of sunshine coming out a unicorn's ass.

The Voice of the Beast
It’s always unintentionally that one stumbles across the greatest treasure. Though some may say that it’s actually trash, a true hunter knows the potential trashy items contain. This particular treasure was hidden behind a counter, a tag looped around it’s tuning pegs that dictated its cost was “$21 as is”. I was immediately drawn to it despite the fact that it was visibly and blatantly broken.

Cheap or Free
There’s a certain sort of smell that certain spaces hold that I’ve come to associate with treasure. It’s a smell of disuse and age that lingers long after an item is reclaimed to its use. Chaos envelops the walls and isles of my favourite places. Don’t enter such spaces with a goal in mind or a tight schedule, you’ll quickly find yourself lost.

The soft sadness
There’s a soft sort of sadness that I grew up with. It can be hard to describe to people who haven’t personally been acquainted with such sensations. It’s quiet and gentle. It wrapps it’s soft arms around you and welcomes you to cry when you need to, or just to be. Whatever you need it gladly offers without judgment. This sadness isn’t like its relatives, it won’t stand in the way of your happiness, it won’t hold onto you any longer than you need it to, its embrace is calming and warm. It is like a warm bath on aching joints and muscles.

The Adoption of Coco
It was year two after our move back to my small hometown in B.C. and I was struggling to maintain my Australian Shepherd X, Sweet Bean’s social life. I had bought her from a family in Kanata when I lived in Ottawa. I had tried to adopt from a shelter at the time, but none of the shelters I had reached out to ever got back to me (I took it as a good sign that the shelters were busy with successful rehoming stories). After months of searching I ended up with Sweet Bean. She had had many friends at the dog park in Ottawa but unfortunately due to my living situation I ended up having to move back to B.C. I eventually managed to make several friends for her that she had playdates with on the semi-regular, but her social life had been lacking since our move. I had always wanted more than one dog and I knew it was time to take the leap and get a second dog.

The Lady and The Vagabond
It was after a long day of work and with tired feet that the Lady met him. She walked down the street while she listened to the music that played over her headphones, she didn't give much mind to anything at that point. Through the smooth flowing of the melodic notes she heard a voice that called to her.

The Little Boy and The Little Creature
It was dawn, and the first beams of sunlight began to glimmer over the rolling hills and flow through the curtains of the Little Boy's bedroom when he first began to stir. The sunlight kissed his rosy cheeks good morning and brought a delicate warm feeling to his heart. The Little Boy smiled to himself, rolled over to face away from the increasing brightness of the sun, and tried to regain some of that early morning comfort that came from being snuggled up in his bed. He quickly shifted back to face the sun and lightly blinked his eyes; his delicate eyelids fluttered softly in the early morning light, and he watched the sun rise higher into the sky. He wished he could stay in bed longer. Despite his desire to remain in bed, the sun was still exceptionally low when he left his bedroom to walk through the fields.

The no cost black book
She was in a rush when she ran down the street towards her destination. She had arranged with a stranger to purchase a used item and pick it up at a location between their respective homes. Unfamiliar with the area, she was running late for the pickup when she tripped over some unknown item. Her stumble was in such a comical manner that it caused a passerby to chuckle lightly at the sight. She got up and picked up a small black book which had caused her stumble and subsequent fall. The book was simple in nature, no title on the cover or spine. She flipped open the book and saw that on the inside cover written in her hand was her name.
