Do You Think Parenting Stops?
I am one of those who think parenting is one of the hardest jobs on the planet. It's an opinion I have had for a long time and it hasn't quite changed. There are topics I can't help but read or save for later reads. Finance, health, politics always make the list. Parenting comes in at some point.

My Favourite Things About Mum
For as long as I can remember, I have been quick to align with my father and find fault with my mum. Maybe it is because she was quite hard on us as we grew. As a teenager and young adult, I sometimes felt she was too old school. Why talk to me about rules, regulations, and customs that aren't exactly in keeping with the times? Somewhere along the way, I learned to look at things more holistically and with less bias. My favorite things about mum are:

The Real Tales of an Intern Part 5
“Mum, I am home.” “How was your first call?” “Memorable mum, we’ll talk about it later. I have a zoom call now.” With that, Sam blew off her mum and went to her room. On her way from the movie theatre, she had been ‘concocting’ an effective way to avoid the conversation. The next thing was to make sure that zoom call happened. If things went according to plan, the call would last long enough for her mum to get busy with something else.

The Real Tales of an Intern Part 4
“Phew what a call. Chad didn’t lie to me.” “Who is Chad?” “He is a senior colleague. He had asked me to do my internship elsewhere.” “Did he have options for you?” “Great question; we know how scarce internship spots are. I couldn’t heed his advice on the spot.” “See Sam, this place has its challenges, yes. Always apply yourself and you’ll be fine. Remember, perspective matters a great deal.” “Are you sure you are an intern like me? You sound like a supervisor.” Fabian laughed at Sam’s comment as they walked into the ward.

The Real Tales of an Intern Part 3
“Has anyone seen Sam? This place is a madhouse, we need all hands on deck.” “Have you checked the doctor’s room or the ambulance bay?” Fabian walked away to the nurses’ bay. “Sister, we have a new intern, Dr. Samantha, we call her Sam. She is of average height…” “Check the doctor’s room, I saw a lady there looking lost.” Fabian smiled and walked into the doctor’s room. “Sam, what’s up with you?” She looked up at Fabian without saying a word. “This place is chaotic, we need you outside.” “I don’t know what I am doing. I am confused.” Fabian sat on the call bed. “It gets that way on the first day here. Do what you can, take the histories. Ask for help, please. Don’t shy away. We are a team.”

The Real Tales of an Intern Part 2
“Damn you are too slow. Don’t you remember all those patients we walked past? They are ours and we have not got all day. Very soon, the orderlies and cleaners will stand hounding us as they need to clean up and go home.” Samantha was flustered. In school, the teachers had been very emphatic about taking good histories. In reality, her supervisor said she was wasting time. They hadn’t told her what to expect in a setting of patient overload.

The Real Tales of an Intern
“Hello, who is this?” “Sam, it’s me, Chad”. Sam thought…which Chad was this? Then she remembered. Of course: “How are you?” “I am good. You?” “I am cool. What’s up with you?” “I am trying to sort out my internship.” “Any heads up?” “Yes, I got a slot in the public hospital downtown.” “Don’t go there.” “Why?” “The ambiance is gloomy. You don’t want to end up with depression while interning.” “Do I have a choice? You know how difficult it is to get a slot. And it is not as if internships are optional. I have to hold on to this until I find something else.” “Okay, keep me posted.” “Thanks for checking in.” “You are welcome.” Chad hung up.

Health-Wise, What Am I Doing Differently in 2021?
For a health and wellness enthusiast, answering this might be a no brainer. The reality is I am human. Sometimes I have the best intentions but they don't translate into actions. I know the benefits of the popular 'five a day'. Have I implemented it to the letter T? Hell no! Why? Life happens. Sometimes, we get slurpy and careless.

I Can Finally Call You Home!
Events Leading to Home Search I underestimated the importance of one's living experience when I migrated. I had a lot of things to process like my career, generating income, and the weather. As you can see, accommodation did not make the list. After signing three different leases with three different landlords, I began having epiphanies. The people who live under the same roof as you impact your goal. What do I mean? This is a new year. New year resolutions abound. You might make a resolution in good faith like I am going to be present during my zoom meetings. If the people you live with have a different set of goals or lifestyle, that will affect you.
