2020 Pressure
Movie Credit: Dead Poets Society Tis the season of thankfulness and good cheer, right? Some might stare at me like where have you been these last 9 months. What do we have to be thankful for when you have people who are at this moment taking their last breath, people who are struggling for food and finances, and having a hard time finding positivity in such a bleak world. It was the realization that there are other countries and areas of the world who live with this type of devastation daily that made me sit down and declare that things could be worse. To simply put in the words of Dr. Seuss “You ought to be thankful a whole heaping lot, for the places and people you’re lucky you’re not”. I made a promise to myself that not only would I be more grateful for the life and opportunities around me but also that I would start helping the world around me as well. So, to continue forward with my first promise. Here are my top 3 reasons to be thankful in 2020.

Quarantine Thankful
Quarantine Thankful 2020 While we are all suffering in different ways and going through or own problems, its important to remember that we are all in this pandemic together. Two sides to the same coin. Its like being part of a well-built machine; we all have a part to do and while each job may be different, no matter big or small, they all need to function for the machine to work to its full extent.

The Workout mix
Work out playlist #2 is my happy mood playlist. Its for the days when im already bouncing around excitedly and dont need a pick me up to remind me why I started my workout goals to begin with. All of the songs are older and more about personal excitement than beats or harmony. The memories of jumping, dancing, singing, and rapping along with this music in my past is enough to hype me up during my workout. So taking a very short ride down memories lane my first song on the playlist is Skrillex's First Of The Year. It gives me a chance to start off steady and build myself up for a nice positive session. Its an oldie but nothing has ever been made quite like it. Next up would be Imagine dragons- radioactive. This one also has a nice mellow start allowing me my 26 seconds of rest and then BOOM! The beat with this song helps me with my reps and I can actually move to the beat. I go full throttle until the end. I do a lot of cardio and hiit sessions so upbeat and fun types of songs are needed.

The Reboot
The 2020 Reboot My workout playlist kills two birds with one stone. It motivates me to get through my intense workouts and reboots my mind so that I can also enjoy myself while moving towards the finish line. Everyone talks of their playlists and how the songs beats and energy gives them all the motivation they need, which is true for the most part, but I on the other hand don’t care if it has the most bass or the biggest beat drops in history; if I don’t feel like working out its very hard for a song to change that. After trial and error I realized that my mind had to match the energy I was trying to get my body to have. Which created what I now call my Reboot Playlist. I mean its 2020 who doesn’t need a reboot right? Well I had to reboot my mind while I tried to get my pre-kid body back. Ive struggled with my weight for the last 3 years after having my son gaining a total of 140 pounds. Due to the pregnancy itself and depression due to being in a very toxic relationship with my sons father. So after ending that and getting into a healthier environment I decided it was time to get better both mentally and physically.

No Pets Allowed
I walk through the double doors with my arms full and my nerves spiraling. No matter how many gifts I brought along I knew they'd mean nothing compared to what she really wanted. It was our second anniversary and, even though she'd asked me not to buy anything, I didn’t want to come empty handed. Taking a deep breath, I pushed the elevator button and listened to the soft ding and the strumming of the motor as it answered my call. For 3 months id been making the journey here living separated from my wife. By now I’ve learned that in the morning, as well lunch time, was the busiest time causing the elevator to be packed, and that during the dead time the elevator came as soon as I beckoned. Mostly, I knew that I would be getting on the elevator alone and leaving the same way. No number of gifts would change that.
