Work and Pastime Then and Now
Humankind is smart! I see more and more innovations that make me excited about a better tomorrow. I have no doubt that mankind will clean up our planet, optimize transportation, see victory over matters of injustice, make habitats on other planets, enjoy new heights of enjoyment, and carry out countless more endeavors previously thought to be insane. There is only one problem: money.

A Ride Through the Future
Imagine entering a car similar to the one shown above. It is advertised as an experience similar to a taxi, except there is no driver. As you enter, a voice asks for your destination. You ask if the car can take you around town and it replies, “of course.”

Series Overview: Why do humans have to pay to stay alive?
Have you ever wondered why it’s so hard just to stay alive in this world? Why it takes so much time, money, and effort to give yourself the basic necessities to just stay at home and do nothing, much less perform to your fullest potential at a job or hobby?

Why do humans have to pay to stay alive? Part 5
First, let’s talk about power. All other topics in this series upset me because of the unjust requirements to obtain such vital resources. This one, however, is different. I am ok with being charged for power; however, I have ideas on how to make it free. Power that we currently pay for is essentially human effort bottled up and used for work.

Magic We Can Experience
Have you ever been to a theme park and half-ran to get to the next attraction? You see events happening, smell the unique food, hear the excitement all around, all while enjoying cotton candy. You ride the rides, buy some overpriced trinket at the gift store, get on another ride, buy Dippin’ Dots, wait in line and watch the craziness all around. Cell phones don’t exist except for taking pictures or recording videos. Sure, it was a lot of work to get there but before you know it, it’s 9:00pm and you haven’t peed all day!

Unasked Questions
After watching shows about the way life used to be in the west (Big Valley and Dr. Quinn if you’re interested), I noticed how care-free most people seemed, sometimes for better, sometimes for worse. Obviously, anyone would envy not having to worry about taxes or car insurance yet, but there were so many things that, if they had thought about it, would have been helpful! Depending on the location, culture, and time period, people regularly included or excluded things that hurt their health, social advancement, or access to resources. A commonly-known example is leeches being used to suck infected blood out of a sick patient. I propose that these issues are related to unasked questions.

Why do humans have to pay to stay alive? Part 4-1
I hate medical insurance! Actually, I don’t hate what medical insurance does for people, I just hate that it has to exist. Medical insurance, especially when provided or partially provided by an employer, can cover many things that would have otherwise come out of your paycheck. That is where I see the benefits ending. Depending on your coverage, you may be charged on top of what you pay for insurance if you seek care anywhere that is not supported by your plan, seek care that is not deemed essential, seek care that goes beyond your deductible, and you will probably have to pay copays anywhere you go for anything anyone does (or doesn’t do)!

Note on Previously Posted Food Article
I mentioned in my article about getting food for free that robots could handle nurturing and slaughtering animals. This led to comments from others and feelings from myself that something needs to change. I have done extensive research and was intending on presenting detailed information but chose instead to present a general, broad view of the topic. My opinion seems irrelevant on this topic except for my desire to change a few things.
