Lovely Landscapes
Landscape paintings are paintings that famous artists have painted of the natural beauty they see before them. Thomas Cole was an English-born American artist and the founder of the Hudson River School who created lovely oil paintings of landscapes. Among his famous paintings is The Oxbow painted in 1836. Today this painting can be viewed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Endangered Plants and Trees
Plants Rafflesia arnoldii is the largest flower in the world and is referred to as the Corpse Flower. It got its name from the repulsive odor emitted from the flower when it blooms. This smell attracts insects which are needed to pollinate the plant.

Soup Caldo de queso is a delicious soup that consists of potatoes, green chilies, chicken broth, and cheese. To make this soup creamy a large amount of cheese is added last. The soup is served with corn tortilla chips on the side.

Touring Louisiana
A State Historic Site is St. Martin Catholic Church established in 1765 in St. Martinville. In the left wing of the church, is the grave of Emmeline Labiche, who was thought to be the heroine of the poem “Evangeline” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. A statue of Evangeline stands in the churchyard.

Ulm on the Danube
Located in the federal German state of Baden-Wurrtemberg, Ulm is a lovely city on the River Danube. Munster the large Gothic cathedral in Ulm is a most impressive sight. It has an amazing 161.5-meter-high steeple, the world’s tallest. It took 500 years to build this cathedral after the first stone was laid in 1377. There are hallmarks on each stone that were inscribed by cutters, who were paid by the block. Visitors can get an impressive view of the city by climbing up 768 spiral steps up to the 143-meter-high viewing platform of the tower. On a clear day, you can see the Black Forest and the Alps.

Mandalay on the Irrawaddy River
Myanmar was previously Burma and. Mandalay is a city and the former royal capital located in northern Myanmar. The city sits on the Irrawaddy River. To get an awesome view of the city and surrounding area people climb up to the summit of Mandalay Hill.

Bitter Sweet Symphony
Music is a great way to express our emotions. Songs can make us happy or sad and even bring tears to the eyes. There are songs that can take us back in time and remember some of the people and places we have left behind. Big Bird Is the Word
Just looking at the title some might be reminded of the big yellow bird from the children’s TV show “Sesame Street”. He was big and yellow and children adore him. However, he was not a real bird. The size of some of these birds would make it hazardous if they were to fly over our heads. So it is no wonder that the bigger a bird is it usually is flightless. However, there are also big birds that fly.

The capital of the southwestern state of Baden-Wurrtemberg in Germany is the city of Stuttgart. It is home to the headquarters of Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. There are many green spaces, impressive architecture, museums, and amazing landmarks.

Lively New Orleans
New Orleans is a Louisiana city that sits on the Mississippi River close to the Gulf of Mexico. The city has been nicknamed the “Big Easy”. New Orleans is known for its vibrant nightlife, live music scene especially jazz, and its cuisine. In the late winter, the city fills up with people when it's Mardi Gras time with parades, costumes, masks, and street parties.
